EZLinks affirms our compliance with GDPR as of May 25, 2018. Compliance is founded on our analysis as well as the opinions of outside counsel specific to the interpretation of GDPR.
Under GDPR, EZLinks serves in a dual capacity, both as a “Controller” of customer data in stances where a customer originates through our reservation channels (e.g., TeeOff.com). EZLinks also serves as a “Processor” of customer data where we provide software that enables our golf course clients to maintain information about customers that originate through their own channels.
As a Controller: EZLinks ensures that the data and communication policies governing its websites and customer lists operate in compliance with GDPR.
As a Processor: EZLinks complies with the GDPR’s data hosting, storage, transfer and processing requirements. All customer data is hosted and stored in secure and GDPR-compliant facilities. As a Processor, EZLinks also ensures that software and/or processes are in place to support Controller obligations within the EZLinks software.
If you are utilizing EZLinks's software to assist you in managing customer information, you are the Controller with respect to your customers and maintain the obligation to comply with GDPR as you and/or your outside counsel interpret.
EZLinks may modify compliance practices as GDPR is interpreted and enforced post-implementation.
Q: What is GDPR?
A: The European Union (EU) has passed The General Data Privacy Regulation (“GDPR) which requires companies to review (and possibly change) how any personal information about EU citizens is gathered and stored. A summary of the information can be found at http://www.eugdpr.org.
Q: I’m not in the EU, so do I need to worry about this?
A: The regulations, as written, apply to businesses anywhere in the world that transact with citizens of the EU. So, if you have ever collected personal information about a golfer that is a citizen from a member country of the EU, the regulation applies.
Q: What are the key elements of the new regulations?
A: Background information can be found at http://www.eugdpr.org, and there are also many articles which have been written about the GDPR. We have created documentation on EZACADEMY.golf to help you address any of your EU golfers’ “Right to Access” and “Right to be Forgotten”, which are two of the data elements under “Key Changes” that you’ll find on that site.
Q: Is EZLinks GDPR-Compliant?
A: As a Processor, EZLinks software is compliant with GDPR regulations.
