NGF Releases New Facts on New Players
April 26, 2017
The National Golf Foundation (NGF) just released statistics on 2016 golf play and the prognostication surrounding future play is promising.
- 2.5 million people in the U.S. tried golf for the first time in 2016 - a new record.
- Non-Golfers (soon to be golfers) interest is increasing - doubling in the last 5 years.
This is a positive indicator that more individuals are being introduced to the game.
The report also reveals that the number of golfers picking up clubs for the first time is not outpacing those putting them down. Even though participation is down, rounds are up with those playing squeezing in more tee times than ever. It's a great sport. We'll continue to provide courses and clubs with the tools to inspire folks to book their next round - loyalty, marketing, online reservations, automated CRM and more. With fewer playing today, each golfer is more important than ever.
